POLITICIAN KIDNAPPED BY MEN IN POLICE UNIFORM

Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka condemns abduction of Bungoma MCA

 by Stella Karino
Bungoma Member of County Assembly (MCA) Bethwel Mwambu was on Tuesday night kidnapped at his home by men allegedly dressed in police uniform.
According to the MCA's driver, the thugs who were riding on motorbikes, followed them for about 5 kilometres as they were driving home and while at Mwambu's gate, they jumped from their bikes, dragged him from the wheels and drove off with his boss.
It is reported that the MCA's car was found abandoned two kilometres from his home with no trace of Mwambu, who is also the Majority Chief Whip in the Bungoma County Assembly.
Leaders from the county including Governor Kenneth Lusaka, have condemned the abduction, attributing it to political malice against the outspoken Mbakalu Ward (in Tongaren Constituency) Representative.
Bungoma North OCPD Eliud Okello confirmed that they had received reports of the abduction and were carrying out investigations.
MCA in the area are now pleading with the Government to provide them with bodyguards stating their lives were in danger.
