Chifu mmoja  ameripotiwa kuuwawa kufuatia shambulizi linalodaiwa kutekelezwa na magaidi wa kundi Al Shabab katika eneo la Omar Jillo huko Mandera.

Kulingana na kamanda wa polisi wa utawala kaunti hiyo Suleiman Hussein, magaidi hao walivamia nyumba ya chifu huyo saa nne usiku wa kuamkia leo na kumuua kwa kumpiga risasi.

Aidha wahalifu hao wanaarifiwa kuwateka nyara polisi  wawili wa akiba huku ripoti ikiarifu kuwa wamevuka nao na kuelekea katika taifa jirani la Somalia.

wiki moja iliyopita magaidi hawa walimuuwa mchimba migodi katika timbo la Elwak kaunti hiyo, visa hivi vikijiri huku kukiwa na amri ya kutotoka nje ambayo imeongezwa kwa zaidi ya mara mbili na waziri wa usalama Joseph Nkaissery.

Wabunge wa Jubilee wakiongozwa na kinara wa wengi bungeni Aden Duale wameapa kutoidhinisha jina la mtoto wa kinara mwenza katika NASA Kalonzo Musyoka kwa jina Kennedy Musyoka.

Naye mwenyekiti wa uchaguzi katika ODM Judith Pareno huenda jina lake lisipite baada ya Jubilee na baadhi ya viongozi wa ODM hasa walioanguka katika mchujo wakiongozwa na Jakoyo Midiwo kupinga uteuzi wake.

Naibu rais William Ruto kwa upande wake ameonya viongozi wa NASA dhidi ya kujawa na ubinafsi akisema kwamba hawana utaifa

Reporting Crime in Africa

It is crystal-clear that Kenya and the African continent at large have unapologetically continued to lag behind as other factions of the world have made tremendous progress, more so in the recent past. Corruption is entirely to blame for this. But the big question that remains unanswered is who is corrupt? Our leaders? If yes, political or religious? Or the corrupt are the people they lead? Are the African systems the ones that are corrupt? Or is it our minds that have been corrupted?

Should we be allowed to vote?

In the fullness of time, we must embrace what is happening in Africa. Corruption is something that we talk about, it is something that we complain about, it is something whose negative impact we recognize, and it is something that even the corrupt acknowledge. The irony is that those who engage in corruption love it. Those of us, who do not engage in it directly, accommodate it be it knowingly or unknowingly; we do it out of will.

We hold elections in Africa on regular basis. The electioneering process is meant to serve one major purpose to the governed- to present them with a chance to replenish their leadership bowels. Let us assume that all these leaders do not rig elections to get into leadership, the most obvious picture that surfaces is that we, the hopeless, still elect these corrupt, bossy and selfish individuals. 

The tragedy of Africa

Our rich men and women are them that occupy public offices. We live in a continent where we celebrate thieves, and vilify good men and women. That is the tragedy of Africa. While any other continent in the recent past has moved in the right direction, Africa still remains in the words of the former United Kingdom Prime Minister, Tony Blair, as ‘the scars in the conscience of humanity.’ 

Mlolongo Voting System

It is in the nature of the African man to harm the small thieves and to elect the great ones into public office- the sole reason why Africa remains the poorest continent on earth. In Kenya, it is understandable if you vie for a gubernatorial seat in general elections after being flushed out of a ministry where you masterminded the loss of millions of shillings. 

The big question remains, should we be allowed to vote in the first place? Anyway, these are the effects that come with democracy bestowed on educated yet illiterate masses. With democracy is makes sense to be supported by twenty fools than five professors, learned critical thinkers.

We have fallen short of His Glory

All sectors of the society are not spelled; even the church of Christ, the mosque, not to mention the temples. So are individuals who assemble in them on weekly intervals. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory God, and the expectations of our founding fathers. We need to soul search, re-energize ourselves, get our footing right and head in the right direction shrug off the tag that Africa has lost 50 years.

 Are we going to gain Africa by mere pronouncement? Or we must change ourselves? We must change our behavioural DNA, so that we are no more attracted to that which is bad and evil.  Are we ready? Do we say with our mouths what we do not believe in our hearts? Are we going to wait for outsiders to tell us to do what we ought to have done? Are we prepared to sacrifice our lives, for that which is good and right? If we are ready we must do that which is good and right. Are we children of a lesser God? No. We are not, but we have allowed ourselves to be corrupted in our morals and in our ways.

They Bloodily Steal From Us....

Our leaders steal from us and hide the money in foreign bank accounts far from Africa. The question is for how long shall we allow this to happen? It is the God-given nature of hyenas to feast on goats. But we, the vulnerable (goats) do give hyenas a chance to take care of us. It defeats logic if a sane individual can prescribe for oneself poison as medicine. Are we killing or are we saving? Are we doing justice to the creator who gave us the freedom of choice? This is for sure blasphemy. 

Let us be black and white, what is the essence of giving an armature a plane to fly when we all know what is to happen next- suicide. I wish God could re-embark on the recreation process and this time round ask the African man for justification as to why he should be given the privilege of making choices let alone being created in his likeness.

Donor funds end up in their Pot Bellies

It is definitely due to this fact, that our colonial masters laugh at us and regret why they allowed us to govern ourselves in the name of independence yet we do not even know the definition of governance. No wonder some came to Kenya and shamelessly declared themselves as the first to see mountains and lakes that had existed for centuries and to add salt into the wound, named the same lakes and mountains after themselves.

We have become desperate beggars

Corruption has made us to look at our colonial masters for anything. If you are Kenya and Uganda, you look up to Great Britain, if you are Congo you look up to Belgium, if you are Angola you look up to Portugal, if you are Ivory Coast you look up to France and if you are Rwanda and Burundi you look up to Germany and Belgium. We have made fun of ourselves. We have made ourselves the laughing stock of all the other continents.

You can't arrest professionals & survive

We have education systems which the political class do not trust. Any African politician would opt to take his/her child to study in Europe than study in the so-called best schools of Africa. When some of our leaders are accidentally hit by a mere tear gas can, they fly abroad for specialized treatment yet they can afford to allow doctors in their areas of governance to go on strike for more than 100 days, allowing innocent tax paying citizens to die very painful deaths.

I do not want to look or sound like a Greek prophet or a relative to any, but from the look of things immediate benevolent change in Kenya and in Africa is necessary. We have a chance to do this, me and you. Whether motivated by ourselves or by influential personalities in history like Jawaharlal Nehru of India, Mahatma Gandhi of India or Martin Luther King Jnr of the United States of America.

In his famous speech that led to his assassination in 1968, the famous American minister and activist Martin Luther King Jnr is quoted saying:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

I have a dream, the Mlavidavi Declaration

King had a dream, a dream that he longed to see its actualization which he actually did not. I too have a dream- a dream for this continent, a dream for this country. It might not be an exact portrait of King’s but it is in many aspects similar.

I have a dream that the men and women elected in public office shall not make it due to the size of their stomachs and pockets but their big hearts. I look forward to the day, when our government ministers will have smaller stomachs, because they engage in anti-corruption activities, I look forward to the day, when we Kenyans, East Africans and all of us in Africa will be known for the right things. ISAACK HASSAN BACK AS ELECTION BOSS

Embattled former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Isaack Hassan has moved to Mogadishu, Somalia.

Hassan will now work in Somalia for the war-torn country's electoral body.

The former IEBC boss will take over the role of a consultant for Somalia's electoral commission.

Hassan announced he was leaving for Mogadishu on Friday, February 25, on his Facebook page.

According to Hassan, his duty will be planning a new strategy for Somalia's electoral commission.

                            “For the development of the strategic plan and other operation manuals," 

Hassan described his new role in Somalia.

Early in 2017, IEBC finally got a new Chairman after Wafula Chebukati was appointed by parliament and the president.

Hassan had a turbulent last few months in office as the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) organized massive protests against him and his commissioners.

Hassan and the commissioners were accused of graft and planning to rig the August General Election in favour of the Jubilee Party.

Hassan and his team resigned in October 2016 in what many termed as a victory for Raila Odinga and CORD.

MLAVIDAVI CHRONICLES: IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY FOR OKUMU IN FREE STATE DEFEAT

South African side Free State Stars centre-back Joseph Stanley Okumu had an impressive display despite a 1 – 3 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match played on Tuesday 7 February at FNB Stadium.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker and Willard Katsande scored a goal apiece on the 18, 31st and 63rd minutes in that order before former Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa finding a consolation for the visitors on the 73rd minute.

Blocked

The 19-year-old Okumu featured the entire game and three occasions blocked Chiefs forwards from making inroads into the 18-yard box. Shabalala opened the scoring with a superb free kick from 25 yards on the 18th minute before Parker struck from the rebound after his penalty was saved by goalkeeper Theka Ngobeni.

Zimbabwean Katsande scored the third with a fine solo effort after wriggling through Free State defenders to slot home. On the 73rd minute, Mahamutsa converted from a free kick in what was the visitors’ only goal.

Free State remains ranked 14th on the 16-team, table with 14 points from 16 rounds. Elsewhere, Ugandans Khalid Aucho and Geoffrey Massa were absent as Baroka FC lost 1 - 2 away to Chippa United.

Brian Onyango

Brian Onyango is expected to be in action as his Maritzburg United face Polokwane City in one of the four PSL fixtures set for Wednesday 8 February.

Kenyan defender Josh Lelan, capped once for the national team Harambee Stars, amassed full minutes as English League Two side Crawley Town stopped the rot after three successive away defeats as they picked up a deserved point with a scoreless draw against Blackpool at Bloomfield Roadon Tuesday 7 February.

Blackpool had the best chance to put the hosts into the lead in the first half but Neil Danns missed penalty. For the visitors, skipper Jimmy Smith went closest when he fired just wide in the second half but it was a contest of relatively few clear-cut chances. There was no shortage of effort but a draw was a fair result.

Dermot Drummy had rung the changes after Saturday’s defeat to Stevenage. There was a first start in a Crawley shirt for more than two years for Conor Henderson and recalls for Kaby Djalo and Andre Blackman, who took the place of the Josh Yorwerth, as he started a two-match ban while Lewis Young completed his suspension.

Chance

After some early sparring, Crawley created their first chance in the 18th minute. Smith chested Henderson’s long pass into the path of Collins, whose shot was held low down by Sam Slocombe. Two minutes later Reds had a major let-off. Neil Danns was brought down by Joe McNerney as he burst into the box for a clear penalty.

But Danns drilled the spot-kick wide of the left-hand post and Crawley nearly celebrated their reprieve with a goal of their own a minute later but Slocombe held Henderson’s well struck volley from 20 yards at the second attempt.

Kitabu hicho kinasema kuwa ikiwa msichana ana sura mbaya au ni mlemavu, inakuwa vigumu kwa wasichana huyo kuolewa na hivyo bwana harusi na familia yake huomba mahari zaidi.

Waziri mmoja alivyambia vyombo vya habari kuwa aya hiyo itaondolewa baada ya picha za ujumbe huo kusambazwa pakubwa kwenye mitandao ya kijamii.

Ulipaji mahari ni tamaduni ya karne nyingi kusini mwa bara Asia, ambapo wazazi wa bibi harusi hutoa pesa, nguo na vito vya thamani kwa familia ya bwana harusi.

Mizozo inaweza kuibuka kuhusu nipesa ngapi zinaweza kulipwa. Wakati mwingine endapo bwana harusi na familia yake hawalipwi, Bi harusi anaweza kudhulumiwa vibaya.

MLAVIDAVI CHRONICLES: SI MEMA TENA KWA WEMA ....

Polisi nchini Tanzania inawashikilia zaidi ya watu 10 wakiwemo wasanii maarufu na polisi waliotuhumiwa na Mkuu wa mkoa wa Dar es Salaam kuhusika na biashara ya dawa za kulevya.

Miongoni mwa watu hao wanaohojiwa yupo msaani maarufu na miss Tanzania wa mwaka 2006, Wema Sepetu, aliyeitikia wito wa polisi pamoja wasanii wenzake kufika kwa mahojiano.

Hapo jana mkuu wa Mkoa huo wa Dar es Salaam, Paul Makonda aliwataja watuhumiwa kadhaa wakiwemo polisi na wasanii kuhusika na biashara hiyo na kuwataka leo kuwaripoti kituo cha polisi.

Wema Sepetu almaarufu Madam 

Kamanda wa Polisi mkoa wa Dar es Salaam Simon Sirro amesema operesheni ya kuwakamata watu hao ilianza tangu jana ambapo watu watano walitiwa korokoroni na kufikisha idadi ya watu waliokamatwa hadi leo kufikia 17.

Kamanda Sirro amesema kwa sasa imeundwa timu maalum inayowahusisha polisi na vyombo vingine vya usalama ili kuendelea kuwatafuta wafanya biashara wa madawa hayo.

Biashara ya madawa ya kulevya ni miongoni mwa matatizo yanayoikabili nchi ya Tanzania ambapo baadhi wamekuwa wakiinyooshea kidole serikali kwamba hajaichukua hatua kali ya kukabiliana na tatizo hilo.

Hizi ni salamu za dhati, za upendo.
Salamu zitokazo ndani na mvunguni mwa moyo wangu.
Salamu zilizobeba dhati ya nafsi yangu.
Salamu adimu kwenye ulimwengu tunamoishi.

Moyo umenituma........

Moyo wangu umenituma barua niwaandikie.
Nyie wana na vijana wangu.

Ikikufikia mweleze na mwenzako.
Mmmh mwanangu, niandikapo barua hii,

Najua mko mahala flani.

Ama ni asubuhi jasho likiwatiririka kwa kuangalia ponografi kwenye intanet kafee baada ya kutoroka shuleni.

Si ajabu kuwa ni usiku wa manane, mmegeuka kuwa bidhaa zinazotembea nusu uchi mkifukuzana na polisi, rambo mkononi wasijue mmefikaje pale.

Na pengine, licha ya umri wa miaka 12, mko leba mkisubiri ule wakati mchungu sauti ya muuguzi ikikwambia pipi ulimumunya peke ako.

Wanangu, pengine ni usiku katikati mko kwenye pati ya kucheza uchi ujira ni pakiti ya sigara.
Au labda mko shuleni chini ya miti mkisoma, mliopo kwenye vyumba mmejaa mithili ya siafu.

Yawezekana pia kuwa ninapoandika waraka huu mpo majalalani mkichakuachakua vifusi vya taka kama kuku wa kienyeji kutafuta makope ya kuchezea.

Ama mwacheza mpira wa makaratasi vichochoroni maana uwanja wenu umezungushwa mabati na kuandikwa "mbwa kali" kisha ujenzi wa kasino.

Walonyakua ardhi yenu ya shule ya Lang’ata bado wapo mamlakani wakiitwa ‘Private Developer’, walofuja mamilioni yenu zaidi ya mia saba bado wapo na kupigiwa upato kutwaa ugavana kaunti fulani.

Wanangu lakini pengine mmejikongoja hadi sekondari. Maisha ya manamba ndio staiki yenu, bila mikiki hakuna lishe.

Wanangu, machozi yanitiririka kiwango cha kulowesha karatasi hii.

 Mniruhusu wanangu nkomee hapo, ntaendelea nafsi ikijikubali.
