By Bentura Kwamboka
Kwale and Taita Taveta counties goes without water for a week

Residents of Kwale and Taita Taveta counties have  for the last eight days gone without water after  Coast Water Service Board (CWSB)  disconnected supply.

The disconnection was due to arrears   of   sh1.3billion by the counties since July 1,2013.

However, Mombasa and Kwale County Governments  accused CWSB of misrepresenting the debt and violating regulations set by the Transition Authority on settling debts between county governments and the water board.

Despite the strong sentiments by  Governor Salim Mvurya, CWSB maintained that water will be reconnected on condition that the counties settled at least their December

However  CWSB acting CEO Joseph Omwange asserted that They are demanding arrears accrued by the defunct municipalities and  have also told them that if they pay the December bill and come up with a formula on how they will clear the arrears
