Boko Haram militants have attacked Nigerian soldiers early on today near the Niger border.
The fighters attacked the troops who were on their way to Damasak border, this is after the military took the area from Boko Haram last year and has been strugglng to keep it.
The group that is linked to the Islamic State has been fighting to retain Islamic religion in the country for the last seven years in a conflict which has displaced more than 2 million people and killed thousands.
