TRADERS COMPLAIN TO KIDERO OVER BUSINESS FAILURES IN THE CITY

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero
By Patricia Kebirungi
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was put to task yesterday by the business community over poor services, harassment by askaris and high taxes.

The Nairobi Business Membership Organizations Coalition which hosted Governor Evans Kidero and his executives at the Panafric Hotel also protested against the garbage menace and noise pollution, saying they are affecting their businesses.

The traders complained of congested and dirty markets and high-handedness of city askaris, who they claim, harass and intimidate them.

Acknowledging their concerns, Kidero cited corrupt officers, shortage of staff and finance as some of the reasons that have hindered efficient and effective services and said that he will be holding meetings with the business organizations every year to assess their progress.
