A policeman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and raping an 18-year-old woman in a night attack along a road in Nakuru County.
Police constable John Waweru was accused of attacking the waitress as she headed home at about 10 pm on Monday night.
The woman, who is six months pregnant, said she ran away from the officer but that he caught up with her and raped her after biting her lips.
“When the condom did not work he removed it and pushed it into my mouth and then proceeded without it," she said.
The woman said she had never spoken to Waweru but knew he worked at Keringet police station.
Six Administration Police officers arrested Waweru on Tuesday afternoon at his house in Nakuru town after Nyumba Kumi officials reported the matter.
She claimed some of the officers and elders offered her a Sh100, 000 bribe, asking her not to talk to the media.
