JOURNALIST KILLS 5 REPORTERS

Hassan Hanafi in court
by Stella Karino
A journalist arrested in Kenya has been sentenced to death after confessing to killing five of his colleagues.
Hassan Hanafi, who appeared before a military court in Mogadishu, Somalia, was working for Radio Andalus which is the mouthpiece of the Al Shabaab militia group.
It is said that while working at the radio station, Hanafi could call up reporters and threaten them with death suppose they failed to join Al Shabaab.
After his arrest in Kenya, the journalist was deported to face trial in Somalia, where he admitted to killing the reporters between the year 2007 and 2010.
The journalist now faces a firing squad - method of execution normally used on captured Al Shabaab operatives in Somalia.
