An SMS service to help eligible voters locate the nearest IEBC centers where they can register as voters has been developed by the code of Kenya.
The ‘GotToVote’ service that was launched on Friday gives an overview of the voter registration process to the users and it also enlightens them on the document they need to carry when they go to register.
According to the code for Kenya country leader Catherine Gicheru all a user needs to do is visit the ‘GotToVote website’, click on the Registration centre dialogue box. This will enable them to select the county and the constituency and the ward they want to register in.
They will also be able to locate and identify the centre nearest to them. Code for Kenya is a civic technology lab that uses data and technology to improve lives and empower people to make informed choices. According to IEBC, only a fraction of the 8,303,239 Kenyans eligible voters targeted for registration have so far registered.
