It was triple joy for
a family in Kisii county after triplets who sat the Kenya Certificate of
Secondary Education (KCSE) examination last year all scored A minus.
The
17-year-olds—Anyona Nyakundi, Brian Nyakundi and Nick Nyakundi— had 76, 75 and
79 points respectively. According to an elated Anyona hard work and
determination attributed their success.
The brothers were
among more than 1,000 students from Kisii Boys National School who took to the
streets of Kisii town to celebrate the school’s good performance.
The heartwarming
results also came as a relief for the school, after the results of 145
candidates who sat the 2014 examination were cancelled because of alleged
malpractices. None of the school’s 2015 candidates had their results withheld.
According to the
school’s Principal, Casper Maina, of the 384 candidates, 34 scored A plain, 138
A minus, 91 B plus, 64, B plain, 17 C plus and one C minus. The school had a
mean score of 10.
Meanwhile, there was
celebration at Kiongongi village in Kisii county after Peter Nyonga Kerama
scored A plain.
Nyonga, who was a student
at Maseno National School, had 83 points. Nyonga’s mother, Robina Kwamboka said
he was a high achiever from primary school where he attained 378 marks in KCPE.
Kwamboka, a peasant farmer, said his son’s performance was testimony that any
child can make it regardless of his or her background.
