A budget committee report indicates that the Busia County Government has lost Sh40 million
in uncollected revenue in the last three months where county has not been able
to collect levies from key revenue sources.
The report tabled in the assembly by committee
chairman Sylvester Oyula stated that no single cent was collected from the
mortuary, fish traders, building plans, health and liquor licensing in the second
quarter of the year. Others which recorded zero revenue collection were land
levies, housing rates, motor cycle fees and agriculture machinery services.
“The County Government is likely to lose over sh 82
million in uncollected revenue by end of June this year if necessary measures
are not taken,” said Mr Oyula.
